Chemistry for a new millennium

Process intensification for chemical synthesis

Headquartered in in Boulder, Colorado, DellaTech provides materials and design services to customers worldwide. Our firm specializes in the application of process intensification techniques to industrial-scale synthesis of fine chemicals. Whether you are seeking competitive advantages through new process development, working to stave off competition from China and India, or seeking to improve the safety of your hazardous production processes, DellaTech's technology can make your business more competitive. We bring extensive experience and professionalism to every project and customize our support to your individual needs and concerns.

Our principals have decades of experience, in fields from energy storage to fuel cells and fluorinated pharmaceutical intermediates. We have built systems with production rates of tens of tons per year, integrated full process trains with alkylation, metathesis, separation, purification and drying into refrigerator-sized automated systems, and delivered tremendous value to our clients.

Focus Areas

Lithium salts

LiFSI (lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide) is emerging as a high-performance lithium salt to replace the more commonly used LiPF6. Lithium-ion batteries using LiFSI salts provide more power at low temperatures and more lifetime at high temperatures. DellaTech provides very-high-purity lithium salts for research purposes.

Fluorinating agents

DellaTech's novel approach to fluorination will challenge all of your assumptions about this process. Compact, cost-effective, and above all safe, our processes can yield more than 100X the throughput of conventional batch fluorination.

Ionic liquids

Ionic liquids provide unique solutions as solvents in chemical processes and battery electrolytes. DellaTech provides electrochemical-grade (<1000 ppm impurity) ionic liquids at the industrial scale. See our products page to order ionic liquids, lithium salts and formulated electrolytes with optimized additive packages.

Process Intensification

Still doing chemistry like a 14th-century alchemist?  Batch processes, many steps, low yields and excess waste? Our 21st-century solutions enable us to access new process conditions not possible in conventional methods. These processes cost less to implement and operate, scale more easily, produce product with superior quality, and pose fewer hazards than processes based on conventional processes.

Electrolytes

When your batteries must operate at extreme temperatures, high voltages, or require non-flammable electrolytes, off-the-shelf formulations simply won't do. With both organic-solvent-based and IL-based families with high-performance LiFSI salts, our electrolytes yield performance that conventional electrolytes can't match.

Metal finishing

Traditional metal finishing processes are limited in their potential windows due to water electrolysis. DellaTech's unique ionic liquid and deep eutectic solvent-based processes replace corrosive acid baths with environmental friendly recyclable baths that can plate and polish aluminum and stainless steel.
